The Big 3 0! (and a little something called our anniversary)

Kevin's 30th birthday party began with him taking the day off, which was a big deal in and of itself. We spent the morning swimming with Pa and then enjoyed a birthday breakfast out.

Later that afternoon, we went to Costco where Kevin picked out his extra special gift: applebeer

Finally, take out from Pei Wei and...

a chocolate cake large enough to feed us for months (yes there are 30 candles).

Our evening ended with fireworks in the street and Asher and I singing:
Happy birthday to you,
You live in a zoo,
You look like a monkey,
And you smell like one too!
for the 18th time, at least.

Love you, babe. Hope it was a good one.

OH YEAH,

We celebrated our 7 year anniversary two days later! I can't believe we're so old.

Here we are in our most sensual wedding photo. Ha ha.

Honestly, we spent our big night browsing at Ikea, then eating hot dogs and breadsticks at the movie theater because neither of us were hungry enough for a real meal. Not to worry, we spent at least as much money on our Pizza Hut Express as we would have at a real restaurant:) Our snacks were followed by a below average movie-- we laughed all night at how pathetic we were. Fortunately, We did have a nice movie date a few days earlier which made up for it. We saw The Dark Knight at Kevin's request, and while it gave me dreams of killing villains, Kevin seemed to enjoy it.

CHEERS! Here's to many more great years to come. And again, I love you.

*all photos were taken with the iphone (even the wedding photo is a picture of a picture) so pardon the poor quality.

Fun for the 4th

We had quite the weekend celebrating Independence Day. The morning of the 4th began with breakfast at IHOP. Here's Asher dreaming of his smiley face pancake on the drive over.

Next we went to my grandparent's house for some swimming with cousins. Always a delight, not to mention very reminiscent of how my childhood 4th of Julys were spent. Aw youth.

After a backyard BBQ, we busted out the sparklers and smoke bombs waiting for it to get dark.

And then came the real show. Kevin and Asher had gone to the fireworks stand earlier in the day and picked out some real winners.

Following fireworks and staying up way past bedtime, which isn't exactly my favorite, we did what I consider my best effort at being a fun mom. A trampoline sleepover! Asher was beyond thrilled and it was extra cool because we could see two different firework shows going on in the valley from our own backyard. Talk about grand finale.

Saturday morning the boys enjoyed chocolate chip cookies for breakfast while jumping in their jammies.

And then, we attended a matinee showing of Wall-e.

Man, it was a good time!

Birthday Bash

Malcom turned 2 this week! And along with his birthday black eye, he got three shots at the doctors office where we learned that he is, in fact, as large and in charge as he looks. At almost 32 lbs. and 36 1/4 inches tall, he falls in the 85% range for his weight, 90% for height, and of course his head is in the 97th percentile:) But seriously, Malcom is the best thing I can think of. He is funny and sweet and weird and entertaining. And on top of all that he is scrumptious. Nothing beats Malcom in the morning, and nothing is quite so terrifying as Malcom in public. He is known for his frantic prancing, deep voice when talking about anything that excites him, his obsession with movies, and saying "cool, nice" as if it were one word instead of two. He's smarter than he looks, but wouldn't perform to save his life. And for such a brute, you wouldn't believe how gentle he is with babies. This big-headed boy with lips to match is the light of my life. I love you Malcom. Everyday.

Sunday started off the festivities of birthday week. My fam came over for an Elmo party which was a huge success aside from the crappy cake Walmart gave us (at least it was free due to the mix up). Woody and Buzz were the best things to ever happen to Mac, and birthday candles just happen to be among his favorite topics of conversation. The pinata took some serious effort to break open, but I think he thoroughly enjoyed scarfing it's spoils. It was a good day.

The celebrations continued with a pool party/canyon trip for Kinsey and Pa's birthdays on Wednesday. What could top swimming and roasting wieners in good company? Happy birthday to all and to all a good night!
